A successful, well-known Dublin businessman with a variety of interests. Boylan is also a singer and sometime manager of Molly Bloom’s musical career. He and Molly begin an affair on June 16, 1904. In Sirens, the jingling of Boylan’s car becomes a metonymy for Boylan himself. He is spotted by the men in the funeral carriage in Hades, and also appears in Lestrygonians, Wandering Rocks, Sirens, and Circe. He is mentioned in Calypso, Cyclops, Nausicaa, Eumaeus, Ithaca, and Penelope.
